Dr. Carl C. Webb, age 89, of Martinsville, Indiana, formerly of the Flora area, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at his home. Dr. Webb was born November 25, 1925 in Lucasville, OH to James Garfield and Gladys Lorena (Gilbert) Webb. He married Lynda Stewart on May 21, 1967 in Vincennes, IN. Dr. Webb joined the U.S. Air Corps upon graduation from high school. He then attended Fenn College in Ohio, Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO, and received his Doctor of Optometry Degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He maintained a solo optometric practice in Flora, IL, from 1949 through 1989. While living in Flora, Dr. Webb was a member of First Christian Church in Flora, where he served as a deacon and youth leader, along with his wife Lynda. He was currently a member of River Valley Christian Church in Martinsville, IN. Throughout his life, Dr. Webb was involved in many clubs and organizations including IOA/AOA/OEP Professional Groups, County Chairman of Salvation Army and American Red Cross for 11 years, was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader, and held memberships in the Jaycees and Chamber of Commerce. In 1957, he obtained his private pilot license, and in the 1960's, was a member and instructor with the Parachute Club of America. He is survived by his wife: Lynda Webb of Martinsville, IN; children: J.G. Webb (Deborah) and Karen Suzanne Webb both of Frankfort, KY, Amy Lynette Webb Guerrettaz (Brian) of Martinsville, IN, and Christopher Carl Webb (Sara) of St. Louis, MO; 5 grandchildren: Zachariah Webb, Kyffin Webb Bland (Wes), Angela Phelps (Ron), Tate Guerrettaz, and Tanner Guerrettaz; 4 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter: Carla Gail Webb, and two brothers: J.G. Webb and R.C. Webb. A memorial service for Dr. Carl Webb will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Frank Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be given to the Salvation Army and will be accepted at the funeral home.
