Obituary
Leonard J. Eigner
Bay City, Michigan
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at McLaren Bay Region, age 85. Leonard was born September 1, 1938, in Munger, Michigan, to the late Joseph and Sylvia (Corrion) Eigner. He married the love of his life Bridget “Bridie” Coughlin on August 13, 1966, at St. Boniface Catholic Church and she survives him. Together they proudly raised four children.
Leonard graduated from Bay City Central High School, patriotically serving his country in the US Marine Corps. He then became a pipefitter for Saginaw Chevrolet Grey Iron where he spent 37 years before retiring. He loved hunting, fishing, and farming, growing beans and wheat. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Hyacinth Church, an usher at church, a volunteer with St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, a member of the FOE Aeries #1010, and a 3rd Degree Brother Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #4102 on River Road in Bay City.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Bridget; his three daughters: Maureen (Vincent) Pflug, Coleen Eigner, and Kathleen Thomas; four grandchildren: Kai Thomas, Sarah Pflug, Patrick Thomas, and Riley Pflug; brother James Eigner (friend Mary Napieralski); sister Pauline Plumlee; sisters-in-law: Kay Eigner, Maureen Forde, and Elizabeth “Liza” Cronin; cousins Pat and Sue Coughlin; and many nieces and nephews. Leonard’s greatest sorrow was the death of his son Joseph Eigner. Also, preceding him in death were brothers: Lawrence “Lee”, Eugene, and Louis Eigner; sister Lillian Sakon; brothers-in-law: John Sakon, Arnold Plumlee, Patrick Forde, Tim Cronin; cousins: Bridget & Roy Cozart, and Thomas & Marciann Coughlin; and nephews: Martin Plumlee and Terry Eigner.
Leonard’s family extends gratitude to special caregivers Pam Northrup and Aurora Zac, as well as many others from Dobson Healthcare, Department on Aging and McLaren Hospice.
