<p>Marilyn Kay (Rees) Wingert, 87, of Le Mars, Iowa, died Monday, January 22, 2024, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars. Abiding by her wishes, her body has been cremated and there will be no viewing or services. Any memorials should be made to your local “Women Against Violence” (or a safe house for battered women and children). The Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars is assisting Marilyn’s family with arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be directed through mauerjohnsonfh.com</p><p><br></p><p>Marilyn Kay Wingert was born January 6, 1937, in Le Mars to Marshall and Dorothy (Keizer) Rees of rural Le Mars. Marilyn worked as a registered nurse for 44 years before retiring in 2002. She was a 1955 graduate of Le Mars Community High School and a 1958 graduate of Methodist Nursing School. </p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by 4 daughters, Michelle (Marty) Morehead of Seney, IA, Teresa (Scott) Vogelaar of Sanborn, IA, Elizabeth (Keith) Lurvey of Panama City, FL and Deborah (Enrique Arias) Wingert of Gilbert, AZ; 17 grandchildren, Kory Morehead, Lauren (Trevor) Hartwig, Tyler Gengler, TJ Gengler, Tiffany (Jon Furman) Mejia, Kimberly Wingert, Devin Stark, Heather (JV) Virgin, Jacob (Cielo) Lurvey, Elizabeth, Victoria, Adrian, Michael, Augustine, and Abraham Lurvey and Vallette and Ela Arias; 16 great-grandchildren, Rowan &amp; Ryker Morehead, Hazel &amp; Hudson Hartwig, Emma (Braxton) Brummel, Samantha, Alyssa and Logan Gengler, Tayden, Tanner, Tucker Mejia, Mason and Mak Furman, Paityn and Steven Hester, Jordan Virgin; 2 sisters, Donna (Neil) Detrick of Gun Barrel City, TX and Sherry (James) Rees-Campbell of Grand Haven, MI; 1 brother, Claude (Gracia) Rees of Greenfield, IA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and their families. </p><p><br></p><p>She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her parents, Dorothy and Marshall Rees; her great-grandson, Sylas Gengler; as well as many extended family members.</p>
