George Edward Hughes, age 69, of Palmyra, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at his home.

Celebration of Life will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Myers Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

George entered this life on January 23, 1954 in Clarksville, TN to the late Paul and Frances Jeanette Sivels Hughes. He attended Locust Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a member of the local VA. He was a Veteran of The United States Army and spent his years working as a car salesman.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Castile Hughes; children, Christina (Jeff) Mullins, and Phillip Hughes; children by marriage, Tim (Jene) Hagewood, Amanda Smith, and Christina (Jeremiah) Hill; grandchildren, Bryan Hagenbuch, Phillip Hughes,Jr., Mackenzie Kinnard, Jaxson Hill, Jamie Lynne Smith, Daniel Smith, Christina Craycraft, Emma White, Destiny Jarrett, Abby Hannon, AJ Hagewood, Jacob Hagewood, James Aumiller, and Austin Aumiller; sisters, Lavern (Randy) Horn and Sherry (Kevin) Grant; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Hughes, Phillip Hughes, Jr., Chuck Black, Bryan Hagenbuch, Daniel Smith, Dwight Kinnard, Brandon Davis, and Jeremiah Hill.
