John Anthony Simko Sr., 73

A devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside on January 18, 2024.

John was born on January 7, 1951, to the late Frank and Rose (Gage) Simko in Akron, Ohio.  He grew up in Akron and moved to Manchester to raise his family in 1975.  John was a laborer for 54 years and worked out of Local 894 and retired in 2012. 

John will be remembered for his love, passion and devotion for his entire family, his strong and fierce work ethic and most of all his beautiful pristine yard, flower beds and garden.  After retiring he loved shopping with his wife, playing golf, fishing and many games of Euchre and Poker with family & friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son Ryan, sister Barbara Mayer and brother Michael Simko.  He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia (Acquaviva) for 55 years; brothers, Frank and Dominic Simko;  brothers-in-law, Gary and Billy,  sisters-in-law, Maude, Cathy, Virginia, Kris and Carolyn;  his oldest son, John (Jody) Simko, his daughter, Monica (Norman) Yanik.  He also leaves grandsons, Nick, Justin, Vinny, and granddaughter, Sydney; and great grandson, Maddox.  and honorary grandkids, Adrienne and Logan. John was uncle and great uncle to many many nieces and nephews.


Calling hours will be on Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.) where family and friends will gather at 11:00 on Tuesday for a time of remembrance. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
