Linda Jane Hodges Coulter

Linda Jane Hodges Coulter, born May 5, 1964 to Jack and Judy, passed peacefully on December 25, 2023. She is survived by her sister Jill Hodges (Robin), sister Kimberly Laschenski (Dave), brother Devon Hodges (Jennifer), aunts Jeanne Rodriguez, Janelle Young (Rick), Deborah Dedman, Cheryl Salter, uncle Frank Dedman, Jr. (Cathy), as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and she remained close to her former husband Abraham Hernandez Solis. She is preceded in death by her beloved younger sister Joy Gautreau, mother Judy Jackson and her partner Barbara Nunnery, father Jack Hodges and stepmother Janet Dedman Hodges, her infant brother, Jack Hodges, Jr., and grandparents and step-grandparents. Jane was a 1982 graduate of Silliman Institute and Co-Valedictorian of her class. She graduated from LSU with a degree in accounting in 1986. As a Certified Public Accountant, Jane was quickly recruited by accounting firm Peat Marwick in Houston, Texas, where she spent many happy years before moving to Baton Rouge, and then to Atlanta, Georgia to live nearer to her sister Jill. Jane was beautiful, witty and had a great sense of humor, with a knee-slapping laugh that lit up the room. She was an amazing baker and cook, often gifting a tin of her delightful sweets at Christmas to very lucky family and friends. She prized family recipes and traditions, and loved to be with her family during the holidays. Christmas was a very special time for Jane; she often decorated several Christmas trees in her home, with one dedicated solely to LSU ornaments because she LOVED those Tigers! Jane had a very soft spot for cats and all animals in need of loving homes and was a tremendous advocate for rescue/adoption. She was a volunteer for a time at Friends for Life Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas and then at Cat Haven in Baton Rouge. Her kindness and empathy for animals that suffered was truly remarkable. Jane was also quite a music-lover and looked forward to attending the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival each year with her many friends. She came to us on Cinco de Mayo and left us on Christmas. Special people come and go on special occasions; Jane certainly falls into this category. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.Memorial Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Clinton, Louisiana. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at St. Andrews with Father Van Windsor officiating. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Clinton. A reception will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church Parish House following interment. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her name to Cat Haven, Baton Rouge, www.cathaven.org.
