<p>Douglas W. Kennan, 92, of Wells, passed away January 10, 2024. He was born December 16, 1931, in Schenectady, NY to Maurice and Ida (Wiese) Kennan.</p><p><br></p><p>Douglas graduated high school in Schenectady, NY. Following high school, he became an apprentice at General Electric before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Following his service to our country, he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Maine in Orono. With his degree he worked at GE for 13 years, which included training with the Green Berets in Vietnam; and at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for almost 30 years until his retirement in 1991. His primary job was to ensure a healthy air supply for people on board submarines by working on the scrubbers.</p><p><br></p><p>Douglas married Jean Penta on June 29, 1967, in Reading, MA. He was one of a kind with a sense of humor that never quit. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed puttering; skilled in plumbing, wiring, and building. He was also an avid Patriots fan.</p><p><br></p><p>Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice R. and Ida Mae Kennan and two sisters, Joyce Kwolek and Doris Ryan. He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Jean Kennan of Wells; son, Michael D.
