<p>A private family gathering was held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 for Shirley May Nelson, 88, of Cleburne. </p><p><br></p><p>Shirley passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 in Cleburne. She was born July 22, 1935 in Henderson, Texas to William Mack and Verdie May Ray McGehee. She married Nathan Nelson on October 13, 1988 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Shirley worked as an in-home caretaker for over 20 years. She was of the Baptist faith. Shirley was a friendly lady with a strong and dedicated faith. She spent countless hours in her garden and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed crafts of all kinds. It can be said that she got great joy from working with her hands. Shirley will be missed greatly by those closest to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Tony Johnson; and brothers, Calvin McGehee and Jerry McGehee.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include her children and their spouses, Peggy Claus &amp; Teddy, Carl Johnson &amp; Lynnette, Ellan Olver &amp; Michael, and Jennifer Byles &amp; David; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; brother, Dick McGehee &amp; his wife, Carol; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.</p>
