Annalee Herndon Obituary

Annalee Herndon, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the age of 97.

Annalee was born on May 26, 1926, in Sneedville, Tennessee to James Wash and Nellie Barnard. She grew up on her family farm, raising turkeys and cows. As a late teen, she traveled to Baltimore, MD, where she got a job at Glenn L. Martin Company, painting and building aircraft equipment during World War II. She also worked in the stockroom and loved to tell stories of her experiences during this time and was proud of the role she played in the war effort.

Above all else, Annalee was a devout Christian woman. She enjoyed reading her bible, witnessing to strangers and sharing the word of God with all people she met. She enjoyed playing Chinese  checkers, gardening, canning and traveling. In her later years she and her late husband visited the lower 48 states together. Annalee was especially proud of and loved spending time with her large family. She welcomed all people into her home and to Annalee there was no such thing as a stranger. She loved someone the moment she met them.

She joins in Heaven her husband of over 50 years, William Herndon; her children, Linda and husband Phil Holt, Darryl Herndon, and Savanna and husband Jerry Rimbey; and her siblings Univee and Milom Cook, Garrett and Lorene Barnard, Henry and Beverly Barnard, and George Barnard.

Annalee is survived by her loving children: Oral and wife Dale Herndon; Joyce and husband Eddie Ziranski; George and wife Jean Herndon; Wayne and wife Kimberly Herndon; and daughter-in-law Dana Herndon.  She also leaves grandchildren: Angela Peccon; Matt and wife Diane Herndon; Dara and husband Jason Harrison; Jerry and wife Wendy Rimbey; Mark and wife Kelly Rimbey; Jennifer and husband Bryan Smith; Jamie and husband Tim Sisson; George Herndon Jr.; Kelly Herndon; Tanya and husband Randy Wright; Lindsey Ziranski; Michelle and husband Nick Mangiameli; and Catherine and husband Teddy Thornhill.  Annalee was also the great-grandmother of 19: Alexis Peccon; Aubrey and Matthew Herndon; Olivia, Evie and Maverick Harrison; Leana and Mason Rimbey; Sean, Blake and Kathleen Rimbey; Cole, Avery and Emily Smith; Lucas, Emma and Levi Sisson; Taylor Wright; and Vivianne Thornhill.  She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitations will be held at the Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD on Wednesday, January 17, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
