Sallie Garland, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend of everyone she met, died at the age of 84 on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. Sallie was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Olive Sargent Kernutt and brother Donald Kernutt. Sallie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, J. Peter Garland, their two children Ellen (Tegan) Brennen, Steven (Jennifer) Garland and by three grandchildren Shelby (Jeremy) Adams, Avery Brennen, and Elye Garland.

Sallie was born in Batavia, New York and lived her early years in Le Roy, New York. She attended Marietta College in Ohio. Sallie loved to sing and was a founding member of the Granbury Civic Chorus and sang with her church choir and Melody Bells. She enjoyed gardening and you could often find her either in the backyard or greenhouse.

Her Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January. 13, 2024, at Machpelah Cemetery, North Street, Le Roy, New York. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Granbury, Texas the following week.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sallie's memory to the Memorial Fund at First Presbyterian Church, 303 W. Bridge St. Granbury, Texas 76048.
