Thelma Jo Jordan

Thelma Jo Jordan, 89, passed away on 12/31/23 at her home at Mountain Lakes Estates in Reno. She was in hospice care and in the company of family after a brief battle with brain cancer. Thelma was born 3/12/34 in Oklahoma and raised in Hayward, CA where she met and married her husband of 66 years, Bill Jordan, who passed away in 2018. Thelma is survived by her 4 children, Ken, Mike, Cindy and Susan; 5 grandchildren, Rachel, Robbie, Derek, Marissa and Amanda; and 5 great grandchildren, Jerrald, Anthony, Christopher, Alex and Brandon. Thelma and Bill lived most of their married life in Texas and the California Bay Area where they raised their kids. They relocated to Reno in 1999 where they lived until they passed.

Thelma worked as an executive secretary before beginning her career as a Realtor with Dutra Realty in Fremont, CA where she was a top agent. She also served many years as president of the School Board in Fremont where she demonstrated her passion for kids and education. Thelma and Bill had a large social circle of friends and were well known for hosting many events at their home in Fremont. When she moved to Mountain Lakes in Reno for independent living in 2020, she continued that tradition as the unofficial social director and party hostess for the facility.

Throughout her life Thelma was a strong advocate for children. She was very active in raising several of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a role model as a mother and a leader; she will be missed.
