Francis (Buster) J. Foley Jr, 83, died peacefully Monday, January 1, 2024, at his home in Wells.

Buster was born in Worcester MA, the son of Francis and Auralie Vigeant Foley. He is a graduate of St. Peter’s High School, Worcester Junior College and earned his bachelor’s degree from Clark University.

Buster worked at Travelers Insurance Co. and Royal Insurance Co throughout the duration of his career, where he made many great friends.

Buster was a Communicant of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Wells. He was an avid sports enthusiast, playing baseball and basketball in his early years and golfing throughout retirement. He particularly loved coaching basketball at Nichols College and St Peter Marian High School in Worcester. He loved everything to do with the outdoors. Hiking was his passion, having climbed most of the White Mountains including all the 4000 footers in the Northeast and the majority of the Appalachian Trail in the Northeast.

Most of all, Buster loved his family and friends.

He is predeceased by his beloved son, Richard M. Foley.

He leaves behind his loving wife Judith (Judy) M. Foley of Wells, daughter Kathleen J. Murphy and her husband Michael of Chelmsford, MA, a daughter in law, Beth Foley of Austin, TX, and 4 grandchildren: Patrick J. Foley of Austin, TX, Kevin M., Cameron R. and Megan K. Murphy of Chelmsford, MA.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Eldridge Rd, Wells. Interment will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St Joseph’s Indian School, PO Box 100, Chamberlain, SD 57325-0100.
