Charles Ellis Halsey Obituary

Charles Ellis Halsey Jr., 85, of East Earl, passed away on December 27, 2023 at Wellspan Ephrata Hospital.

Born in Oswego, NY, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Gladys A. (Reiner) Halsey.

Chuck was the husband of Muriel L. (Hurst) Halsey, with whom he shared fifty-nine years of marriage.

He was a member of Pine Grove Church since 1963 and proudly served in the United States Navy, singing in the Blue Jackets Choir in Great Lakes IL. He also sang in the Bowmansville Male Chorus for several years. He was a graduate of PA School of Banking at Bucknell University, and has completed various AIB courses. He was employed by the former Blue Ball National Bank for over 30 years, retiring as the comptroller. After retirement he returned to the bank, working in their maintenance department. He had served in various positions for Brecknock Township, including the Zoning, Planning, and Sewer Authority boards. Chuck and Muriel loved taking walks together, participating in 950 10k American Volksmarches since joining the organization in 1989.

In addition to his wife Muriel, Chuck is survived by his children; Pamela H. wife of Gary A. Darstein of Baldwinsville, NY, Kent C. husband of Susan (Schnader) Halsey of Reinholds and Keith W. Halsey husband of Kendra Besh of Anchorage, AK, grandchildren Mary Kate, Madeleine, Jack, Kendall, Cooper, Anna, Teagan and Matteo and one great grandson; Andrew. Also surviving are his sisters; Anne Hurst and Mary Margaret Halsey.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Pine Grove Church, 1194 Reading Road, Bowmansville PA 17507. A Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
