Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jacob Hunt (February 23, 1952- December 18, 2023)

With broken and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Jacob Hunt, a pillar of strength and love in our lives. Jake, aged 71, was a beloved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He departed this world, leaving a void that can never be filled.

Born to Florence and John James Hunt, Jake was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Lucy and Job Hunt, and Julia and Abel Feltham. Their memory lives on, woven into the fabric of his rich life.

Left with cherished memories are his devoted wife, Georgina Hunt, and their children: Michelle Hunt (Michael) and Melanie Hunt. Jake is also survived by his sister, Daphne Parsons (Carl), sister Gertie Hunt, and foster brothers Tony Blanchard and Lloyd Parsons. His legacy extends beyond his immediate family to a large circle of relatives and friends, all of whom share in the grief of his loss.

Jake will be fondly remembered for his unwavering love for this family and friends. A loving father and husband, he was always willing to go the extra mile for those he cared about. Generous, compassionate, and passionate, Jake’s zest for life was evident in his love for boating, fishing, and hunting. He played a pivotal role in the reopening of the food fishery and had a profound appreciation for nature.

A dedicated community member, Jake served on the Harbour Authority and Hare Bay Town Council. His roots, traced back to Sliver Fox Island, remained a source of strength and identity throughout this life. An avid hockey player in his younger years, Jake’s love for the sport was only surpassed by his love of teaching, a profession from which he retired. In the last five years of his professional journey, Jake found fulfillment in his role at Crimson Tide Fisheries. His work brought him joy, and he particularly valued the meaningful interactions he had with his coworkers.

If you have the privilege of knowing Jake, you were witness to the profound love he shared with his wife, Georgina. Their bond was unconditional and transcended the boundaries of life and death. The echoes of their love will resonate through time, a testament to the enduring power of true connection.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff of James Paton Memorial Hospital, Oram’s Funeral Home, and the overwhelming support from extended family and friends during this challenging time.

In honoring Jake’s memory, let us reflect on the love and joy he brought into our lives. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the warmth of the love he so freely shared.
