It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved John, born on August 22, 1941, left this world on December 17, 2023, at 82 years of age. He was a devoted husband to Karen for 57 years, a loving father to Alison (Norm), and a proud grandfather to Carolyn, Cassandra (Kevin), Zac (Caitlin), and Katie. Recently, he joyously welcomed his great granddaughter, Mackenzie, into the family. John is now reunited with his son Mark and his parents Helen and John. Cherished brother of Bill (Susan) and a dedicated electrician at Stelco for over 30 years.

John found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially when surrounded by family and friends. His love for fishing, hunting, and spending time at the cottage brought him immeasurable happiness. An avid golfer, he enjoyed his winter days on the greens in Dunedin, Florida, creating lasting friendships at Dunedin Palms.

Known for his kind and caring nature, John was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His legacy of warmth, generosity, and love for life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever live in our hearts.

A special thank you to the staff and guests at Emmanuel House Hospice and to the special health care professionals that became friends at the Juravinski E4. A big thank you to his fellow Stelco retirees who visited and shared stories.

Cremation Services were held. Memorial Visitation Friday, December 22, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Memorial Service on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave., Hamilton, ON.
