Obituary
Janice H. Beamish, 76, of Delton, MI, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at Best Care Plus Living Center in Marshall, MI. She was born December 18, 1946 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of James and Hazel (Dodd) Fulton. Janice and her husband, Barry, owned and operated Spanky’s Tavern. They spent 55 years of marriage together before Barry’s passing in 2021.
Janice found strength in her relationship with God. She stood firm in her desire for her children to attend church & receive Christian education. She led her family well by being an active member of Faith United Methodist Church. With her church family she made numerous mission trips working with the Appalachia Service Project. Janice found immense joy in serving the families in Appalachia.
Together with her husband, Barry, she was an integral part of the Urbandale Level Park Area Business Association, ULABA. Hosting meetings at Spanky’s Tavern often. Janice had a passion for and was a founding supporter of the Christmas lights displayed along Michigan Avenue. Over the years, Janice spent many late hours sewing clothing for the family. Later, she took her projects to the Quilting Group to enjoy the friendships and creativity time.
She is survived and loved by: Nichole (Leslie) Ridner, Barry (Marjorie) Beamish II, and Patti (Stan) Martin. She was deeply loved and will be missed by Elizabeth Crick, Nicholas Kuykendall, Brock Ridner, Heath Ridner, Jessica Ayers, Benjamin Ayers, Nicholas Ayers, Codi Pluymers, Ronnie Pluymers, and Mary Martin. Janice’s cousin, Stephanie Witt & niece, Barbara Ann Dellesky also survive to remember their fun summers on Crooked Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Barry; Barry’s son, David (Joie) Ayers; and siblings: Geraldine (Fulton) Jacobs, Wayne Fulton, and Robert “Bob” Fulton.
Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. A private family burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to the Appalachia Service Project (ASP).
