PETERSTOWN, WV - Janice Aline Chamness, 82, of Wilberforce, OH, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born October 30, 1941, in St. John, KS, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe Piland and Delma Lenora Rader Piland.

Janice worked as a radio station receptionist. She was an avid quilter and a member of four quilting guilds in Ohio. She was happily married for fifty-eight years to husband, Edgar Allen Chamness. She missed him terribly until she went to be with him in Heaven.

Janice was a loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Jon Eric Chamness Jr. (Jessica), Carl Chamness, Iesha Chamness (James), Elena Chamness, Janice Chamness, Xavier Chamness, Amanda Althouse (Andrew), Janelle Chamness (deceased), Ian Chamness (deceased), Adrian Chamness, Henri Emery and Macy Briley (Caleb); eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, husband, and grandchildren, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.

She is survived by two sons, Jon Chamness and wife Lindsey of Peterstown, WV, and Ramon Lee Chamness of Waianae, Hawaii; and one sister, Lenora Purdy of Topeka, Kansas.
