Rebecca “Becky” Chavez (12/31/1952 - 12/6/2023)
Becky Chavez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away
Wednesday December 6th after fighting to recover from several illnesses. It’s really hard to put
into words what Becky meant to her family and friends. She was always there for you when you
needed her, quick to help out and there to support you when you needed it.
Her life of service started when she graduated nursing school when she was 19 and
then spend the next 50 years doing what she loved. As a labor and delivery nurse, Becky
helped bring countless children into the world and many of those that she helped as a nurse,
stayed in contact with her afterwards. After being injured in a car accident on Easter 1994,
Becky had to switch gears since she couldn’t do labor and delivery anymore without pain. She
persevered, went back to school, recovered, then went on to be a great IV therapist. After
several years in IV therapy, Becky made one more pivot to helping with medical insurance
claims, where she would evaluate cases and advocate for the patients until she retired in June
2023.
Becky’s family was the world to her. She was happily married to her husband Julio for
over 25 years and they were inseparable. She enjoyed spending time with her son and
daughters, as well as her grandchildren. She always put her family above all else, willing to
sacrifice what was needed to make sure that they were always taken care of.
Becky is survived by her husband Julio, her son James, her daughters Julia and Cyndi,
her grandsons Jacob and Ryker, her granddaughters Kristin, Sarah, Zoey, and Alisa, her nieces
Molly and Shari, as well as her nephew Michael. The family is working on getting services
scheduled for January and will update later.
