Merrily Arden McKenzie Thompson, 66 of Marion, AL went to her eternal home on December 14, 2023. She was born on October 8, 1957, in Montgomery, AL to Kenneth B McKenzie, Jr. and Arden Marian Goodson McKenzie. She was a bookkeeper and an animal lover. She worked for the University of Alabama, Marion Military Institute, and most recently at Iron Horse Farms in Marion. She had a loving heart and generous attitude.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Marion Goodson "Butch" McKenzie, and her sister-in-lawn Sheila Harrell McKenzie. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, James W. Thompson of Marion; her brothers, Kenneth B McKenzie III of Elberta, AL, and Michael Wayne McKenzie (Kim) of Sprott, AL; her sisters-in-law, Cindy "Bunny" Wilson, McKenzie of Wetumpka, AL and Mary Thompson Carter of Marion; and her brothers-in-law, Dan Thompson of Bassett, VA and Ken Thompson of Williamsburg, VA. She is also survived by four nieces, one nephew, six great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Marion Methodist Church. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Len Hurston officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion Chapel directing.

Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 1:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be Dan Thompson, Ken Thompson, Ken McKenzie, Wayne McKenzie, Steve Taylor, and Randy Moore.

This is another day, Oh Lord. I know not what it will bring but make me ready for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly! Give me the spirit of Jesus. Amen.
