Elizabeth "Lib" Boswell Lackey
<p>Elizabeth “Lib” Lackey, 90, passed away Saturday December 02, 2023 at her home. </p><p>Born April 25, 1933 daughter to the late John Iverson and Mazie Butterworth Boswell, Lib graduated from Longwood College and was a retired school teacher, and attended Trinity United Methodist Church. Lib was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Vernon Lackey, Jr. and brothers, George Robert “Bobby” Boswell, John Iverson “Sonny” Boswell and her sister, Mary Boswell Furr.</p><p><br></p><p>Surving are her sons Hal Vernon “Trey” Lackey,III and wife Sydney of Alexandria, VA and Stephen Boswell Lackey and wife, Salisha of Tampa, FL; and daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Carey and husband, Randy of Port Angeles, WA.; her grandchildren, Ryan Carey and wife, Abby; Tyler Carey and wife, Brittnee, Hal V. “Boots” Lackey, IV, and Max Carey and wife, Mikayla. </p><p><br></p><p>A family commital service will be conducted Saturday, December 09, 2023 at 11:30 am. in the Boswell Family Cemetery off Goodes Ferry Rd. A celebration of life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church immediately following the family committal. </p><p><br></p><p>Trinity United Methodist Church members will serve a meal after the Celebration of Life service at Trinity UMC off Trinity Church Rd. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested to make memorial contributions in the name and honor of Elizabeth “Lib “Lackey, to: Monthly Missions: Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O.
