Sandra Lavonia (Voni) Bamberg Thomas, 72, passed away on December 4, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family, Sandra was born in Perry County, AL on April 14,1951 to Brady Spencer Bamberg and Lucile Wigger Bamberg.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her baby girl. Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Franklin Thomas; her daughter, Lynn Swindal (Scott); son Matthew Thomas (Tammie); grandchildren, Johnny Swindal (Sydney), Makayla Tucker (Kurt), Matilyn, Chloe, and Emma Lucille Thomas; two great grandchildren Laiken Swindal and Lily Rose Swindal; brothers Lawrence Bamberg (Anne), Russell Bamberg (Valerie), sister Patti Thomas (Brian) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sandra was a loving Christian wife, mother, MeMe, sister, aunt, and friend. She always thought of others before herself. She raised her family in a Christian home filled with love. She was MeMe, to not only her grandchildren and great grandchildren, but to many of their friends. She had such a heart for God and children.

Sandra began her career in 1977 as a Dental Assistant in Marion and continued serving Marion and the surrounding communities for 44 years retiring in 2021 from Marion Family Dentistry with Dr. David Gann. Patients loved “Miss Sandra” and she cared for them dearly.

Visitations will be Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 1:00pm at Hopewell Baptist Church in Marion, Al. Funeral service will begin at 2:00pm. with Shannon Allen officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion Chapel directing. Graveside service will follow at the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Phillip Brown, Daniel Bamberg, Kelly Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Marshall Thomas, Jeremy Allen, Brian Murphy, and Perry Cochran. Honorary pallbearers are: Aaron Bamberg, Johnny Swindal, Brian Thomas, Dr. David Gann, Dr. Shane Lee, Dillon Henry, Justin Henry, Luke Henry, and Kurt Tucker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Youth.
