Mr. Douglas Gernert Moss, Jr., age 54, of Millwood, GA, passed away Monday morning (12/4/23) at his residence following a short illness.

Born September 24, 1969, in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of Douglas Gernert Moss, Sr. and Patricia Ann Gilkes Carter. He lived most of his life in Pierce and Ware Counties and was a mechanic for Thom’s Transport. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Holland Carter; and two sisters, Teresa Carter and Amanda Carter Hanson.

Survivors include his son, Austin Moss (Jennifer Chancey) of Blackshear; granddaughter, Ansley Moss; mother, Patricia Ann Gilkes Carter of Millwood; biological father, Douglas Gernert Moss, Sr. of Atlanta; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Jaime Carter of Blackshear; nieces and nephews, Savannah Gullett (husband John) and daughter Willow, of South Carolina, and Todd Carter, Ceb Carter, Linsey Sauls, and LeAnn Sauls, all of Blackshear; and several other relatives.

A memorial service will take place Thursday evening (12/7/23) at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
