John W. Janaky, 79, of Burlington, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 at his home.

Born in Racine, Wisconsin on January 26, 1944, he was the son of Louis and Alice (nee Straube) Janaky. His early life was spent in Racine, where he graduated from St. Catherine’s High School. On August 3, 1964 in Muskegon, Michigan, he was united in marriage to Mary Binder. They were residents of Rochester for 37 years.

John was self-employed with DAH Custom Propellers and was a member of Community Baptist Church of Honey Creek and Duck’s Unlimited. He enjoyed racing boats, hunting, fishing and gardening. He grew pumpkins that were over 300 pounds and loved the Packers, telling stories and talking to people.

John is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Jeffrey Janaky; grandchildren, Spencer (Emily) Janaky, Chase Janaky and Vince Janaky; great-granddaughter, Jade Faith Janaky; sister-in-law, Gloria Mitchell; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jim and Jerry Janaky.

The family would like to thank Hospice Alliance, along with Dr. Choi and Dr. Gullberg, for their care and compassion during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society for Multiple Myeloma.

A memorial service for John will be held at a later date.
