Elizabeth Hasburgh Obituary

Elizabeth (Liz) F. Hasburgh (Neff), 68, of Avoca passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, after a battle with Dementia. Liz was born May 12, 1955, to Walter and Catherine (Pettera) Neff. On August 1, 1981, she married Dennis Hasburgh and together they farmed and milked cows on the Hasburgh family farm, in rural Avoca.


Liz graduated from Riverdale High School and SWTC. She volunteered with many organizations, including being an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, CCW and Catholic Financial Life, serving as Branch Secretary/Treasurer several years. She and Dennis were 4-H leaders, as well as being active in the Young Farmers Program, Farm First Cooperative, Foremost Farms and Accelerated Genetics. Liz was also a trustee for the AgSource DHI Foundation Board for over 20 years. She had great pride in their farm and their quality milk production. Liz enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her family, watching her daughters and grandkids play sports and exhibit 4-H projects.


Liz is survived by her husband, Dennis, three daughters, Becky Hasburgh, Middleton, Jackie (Eric) McCarville, Mineral Point, Kristi (Matt) Bruner, Boscobel; five grandchildren Alana (Trevor), Hunter and Emi McCarville, Tim and Mike Bruner; two great-grandchildren: Adeline and Hazel Gilbertson; siblings, Mary (Jim) Patten, David Neff, Mike (Vicki) Neff, Pat (Cathy) Neff, Theresa (Rod) Sander; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Liz was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert, and other relatives.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Muscoda. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Avoca at a later date. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home in Muscoda from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 2:45 PM. Visitation will also be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the departure to the church at 10:45 AM. The family thanks the Upland Hills Hospice team for their care of Liz. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liz’s family for donations to various local charities in Liz’s memory. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
