Ricki Lee Amans, 69, of Newton died on Friday, December 1, 2023, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. No services are scheduled at this time.  Memorials in Rick’s name (checks made payable to Jerry Amans) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.    

Rick, the son of Vernon R. and Patricia M. (Petrovich) Amans, was born on February 1, 1954 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He grew up in Indiana before making his home between Indiana, Florida, and Iowa for most of his life.  Rick worked in sales and finance for car dealerships.  He had a lifelong love of racing and enjoyed working on race teams. That love led him to making his home in Newton, Iowa in 2019, to be closer to the Knoxville Raceway, the Sprint Car Capital of the World.

Rick is survived by his brother, Jerry Amans of Venice, Florida; sister, Patricia Fiedel of Bonita Springs, Florida; and his nieces and nephews and their families, Kyle (Kim) Parker, Jenny Rose, David Parker, Carrie Parker (Scott Kanerva), Erica Amans (Jeremy Martin), Brian Amans, and Cassie (Bryan) Noah. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Eric Friedel.
