DURHAM: Russell Hoffman, 79, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023. He was born in Gaston to his late mother and father. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hoffman is predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Brewer and Dorothy Vernon.

Mr. Hoffman served in the United States Navy during Vietnam and loved his country, he was very patriotic. While serving he received a National Defense Service Metal. He loved his cat "Babs", loved to sing. He sang in the church choir, where he sang many solos. He was a deacon for the church and loved doing mission work. He was a big Carolina fan, enjoyed his cereal, popsicles, and chocolate milk. He was a people person and never met a stranger.

Mr. Hoffman is survived by his wife, Margaret Hoffman; son, Aaron Tine Hoffman, and daughter, Christine Gayle (Michael) Mundy.
