Lubin Gonzales Jr. Obituary

Lubin Gonzales Jr, 81, of Ogden, passed away on Wednesday November 29, 2023, at his home after a brief battle with pneumonia and a lung mass.

Lubin was born on October 16, 1942, in Elko Nevada to Lubin & Mary Gonzales and Nina Rios. Attended Ben Lomond High School.

In 1966, Lubin married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Herrera, in West Ogden at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall. They went on to have 4 children. Happily married for 55 years.

From a young age Lubin had many skills and talents. He lived up to his nickname Speedy Gonzales. Hard work was his career. He did it well and he did it with pride! Lubin would go the extra mile. He gave with his whole heart for everyone. Not just his family and friends. It didn’t matter who you were, where you came from, what you needed or how much or how little you had. Lubin gave you his respect, food, a beer and the shirt off his back.

Lubin had always loved fishing, woodworking, gardening, family BBQ's, old western movies with lots of buttery popcorn and tinkering on any vehicle or machine. He was a top player for many years in the Northern Utah Pool League. He always had a great story, pun, joke, tease or idiom. That man knew how to make you laugh and put a smile on your face. Lubin was the life of the party!

Lubin was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Donnie Gonzales, Edward Gonzales, sisters Laura Gomez, Bonita Warrick wife Gloria and 2 children. He is survived by brothers Manuel (Sylvia) Gonzales, Dale (Dawn) Gozales, his son Jabin (Tiffany) Gonzales, daughter Rita (Matt) Graham, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express our gratitude to Rick Stanley NP and the team from Care Support Network who gave our Papa such compassion, care and exceptional regard.

As we all know, Lubin was all about the hustle. Work now and play later. He was very specific and had always told us. Do what you gotta do! Get back to work and get those bills paid! As soon as his eyes opened in the morning and his boots hit the floor. Papa was off and runnin! To honor his request. Papa did not want any formal services or shindig. He loved life and doing things with friends and family on the fly. Please share stories, information and pictures. We will have a family BBQ during warmer weather and maybe some pop up get togethers here and there.

In remembrance of Lubin and to help his family with his final expenses. A donation page has been set up in his honor, https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memoryof-lubin-gonzales-jr or you can send through Venmo to @Rita-GonzalesGraham
