<p>Marjorie Grace (Bayless) McGowan, 85 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away peacefully at 4:35 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Carriage Inn, Steubenville, OH.</p><p><br></p><p>Marjorie was born on June 4, 1938 in Steubenville, OH. She was the daughter of the late Herbert T. Bayless and Virginia Pearl (Keller) Bayless.</p><p><br></p><p>Marjorie was a proud graduate of Wellsburg High School where she was in the band. She was a member of the Colliers Way Church of Christ. Marjorie retired after 21 years as a school cook at Brooke High and Bethany Primary Schools. Many will remember Margie for being a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, always roller skating and being a caregiver for so many in need always making them feel loved; but most of all, for her amazing cooking especially the homemade noodles and always taking charge.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her dear husband of 65 years, Daniel Edward McGowan, two children, Herbert McGowan and Mark McGowan and two brothers, William “Buck” Bayless Sr. and Herbert Bayless.</p><p><br></p><p>Marjorie is survived by her children, Daniel L. McGowan and his wife, Mary Ann, David W. McGowan and his wife, Robin and Tamara “Tammy” J. Santora and her husband, Michael, 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Clarence “Les” McGowan and his wife, Kathy Ann and sister-in-law, Tina McGowan and numerous nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Family and friends will be received on Wednesday December 6, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the JAMES FUNERAL HOME, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with her dear friend, Pastor Joseph F. Cuomo of the Christian Assembly Church, Follansbee, officiating. </p><p><br></p><p>Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV.</p><p><br></p><p>The family would like to thank the Carriage Inn of Steubenville, OH for the staff's dedication, care and love they all showed Margie and her family during her stay with them making it feel like home.</p><p><br></p><p>Please add or view condolences, photos and stories at www.chambersandjames.com</p>
