Fenton “Mark” Dunn Obituary

Fenton “Mark” Dunn, 56, passed away on December 1st, 2023. He attended Sparkman High School until his junior year (1983), where he transferred to Dermott High School after moving to southeast Arkansas. He graduated from DHS class of 1985 as Dermott’s valedictorian. He was best known in Dermott for helping his father at his local pharmacy (Delta Drug), where in high school he met the love of his life, Becky. Becky and Mark dated throughout both their high school and UAM careers until they wed in 1992. After graduation, he began working at Barton’s in Monticello and at Clearwater Paper Corporation (then known as Potlatch) in 1995. He has worked throughout various stations at the paper mill, having worked his way up in the company to become a Wet End Operator and had served as the U.S. Steelworkers’ Union President for numerous years. He was also a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in McGehee.

Mark was a lover of all things Star Wars and Marvel. He was often regarded as the family nerd for his love of Star Trek and StarGate. He was known for his fun graphic t-shirts with all his favorite characters. His favorite thing to do was to sit (and slowly fall asleep) while watching the television with his family on his big couch. He was a man who cared deeply about his family and chosen group of friends. He was a known jokester and was also known for his contagious laughter.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lea Dunn, his uncle, Jerry Dunn, and his uncle and aunt, Dr. and Mrs. David Cummings.

He is survived in life by the love of his life Becky Dunn of McGehee and his two daughters, Mary Dunn of Jonesboro and Katlynne Dunn-Gillespie of Jonesboro (husband Tyler), father and stepmother, Jeff and Beth Dunn of Enon, sister, Kelly Smith of Texarkana (husband Wayne), brother, Scott Dunn of Kilburn, LA (wife Barbara), step-brother, Michael Reilly of Metternich, GA (wife Erica), step-brother, Chris Reilly of Cabot (wife Nikki), nephew, Jeffery Dunn of Eagle Pass, TX (wife Monica), and a host of extended family.
