Mary L. Kaliris Obituary

Mary L. Kaliris formerly of Revere and a long-time resident of Lynnfield MA passed away peacefully on November 30th at the age of 89. “Grace was in all her steps, Heaven in her eyes and in every gesture, Dignity and Love.”

Born in Boston, Mary grew up in Chelsea MA and attended Saint Rose High School. Mary would reminisce about playing basketball, “three on three” she would say while showing off a picture of her in her uniform. After high school Mary worked as a telephone operator and rounded out her career as an executive assistant at Bell Atlantic now Verizon. Mary was a great adventurer and would never turn down an invitation. She had a witty way about her, loved life which made her fun to be around. She enjoyed excursions and traveling with her friends and family, runs to her favorite casinos, card games, bowling and let us not forget a good game of bingo. She enjoyed dining out always searching for the ultimate fried clam plate and lobster roll. Mary was an avid reader and a passionate fan of New England sports. “Even for an Irish girl" as her husband would banter she was a great Greek cook.

Mary was fiercely loyal and had unwavering faith in God & those she loved. Most importantly she was kind and best known for her caring nature and dedication and love for her family. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, loving them unconditionally. Mary was the beloved daughter of her late parents William & Evelyn Dillon. She will be remembered as the caring and loving wife of the late Charles R. Kaliris with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Devoted and treasured mother of the late Charles “Chuck” Kaliris & his wife Karen of North Reading, William Kaliris & his wife Denise of Melrose, and Christine Kaliris of Winthrop. Beloved Nana to Diane Kaliris-Velez & her husband Albert, Mark Kaliris & his wife Kaitlin, William, Dillon and Matia Kaliris. Adored Great-Nana to Charlie & Vincenzo Kaliris. Dear sister of William Dillon & his wife Phylis of Middleborough and the late Evelyn Glowik, Margaret Concannon and John Dillon. Mary is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary on Friday, December 8th, at Gately Funeral Home, located at 79 West Foster Street, Melrose, MA, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church 17 Grove St, Lynnfield, MA .
