Larry Robert Richmond Obituary

Celebrating a Life Well-Lived: A Bittersweet Farewell to Our Husband – Dad – Grandpa.  Larry Robert Richmond, born September 22, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah, died November 29, 2023 in Blanding, Utah.

While riding his bike which he loved, he was involved in an accident. A few hours and lots of Larry jokes later, and without much warning, Larry passed away according to his script, mostly. Larry’s biggest fear was dying of old age and becoming a burden to his family. Although sad, we are enjoying the opportunity to come together to share stories, tears, and honor a man who set a great example to our family.

Dad’s script edits would have included: a see you later kiss and hug to Carol - unless they could have gone together, an “I love you” to each one of his kids and grandkids, along with a broad shouldered hug, and a cuddle and goodbye to his buddy Rex – his dog - again unless he could have just taken him along.

A visitation from 10:30 to 1:30 will be followed at 2PM by a celebration of life, on Friday Dec. 8, 2023 at the Blanding Stake Center. We would love to invite anyone who’s willing, to share (via text, email, or private message) a 30 second video memory of Larry, or if you are planning to come to the visitation, we will have a studio ready to capture it for you.

Our family is at peace. We will mourn, we will miss him, but we are thankful for the way the final earthly page turned.

Preceded in death by parents Velma Blanchard Richmond and Clifford Richmond, Sister Kay and Brother-in-Law Earl Moore.

Survived by his spouse Carol Johnson Richmond, and their children Brayden (Paula) Richmond, Jami (Aaron) Kendrick, Carrie (Stewart) Hughes, Regan (Mori) Richmond, Jennifer (Derek) Simmons, Robby (Laurel) Richmond, Dylan Richmond, Chase (Mikaila) Richmond, 18 grandkids, and 3.5 great-grandkids.  And his Sisters Carol Fifield and Ann (Ray) Child.

We would like to give a special thank you to the first responders and excellent hospital staff who helped Larry. Thank you Danny and Amanda Palmer for your care for both Larry and Carol through our mourning and planning. Blanding is blessed with wonderful people.
