Judy Kay Henry

<p>Judy Kay (Bridgewater) Henry passed away at home in Laurel, Montana on November 29, 2023, due to complications from Alzheimer’s and cancer. Judy was born in Bozeman, MT on August 27, 1948, to Oscar and Katie Bridgewater, the middle of three daughters. She grew up in Bozeman where she attended elementary and junior high school. She graduated Bozeman Senior High School in 1966. She matriculated to Montana State University where she graduated in 1970. Judy received her master’s degree from MSU-B in 1984.</p><p><br></p><p>She began a teaching career in Billings, MT in the fall of 1970. Judy was a recognized teacher having received a national award for excellence in the teaching of elementary school science and mathematics from President George Bush at a White House Rose Garden ceremony. She received a Fulbright scholarship to travel to and study the culture and educational system in Japan. She was a long-time coordinator for Project Linus procuring and providing blankets to first responders to provide for the comfort of children in trauma situations. After retiring from the Billings school district, Judy taught at MSU-B and supervised student teachers for many years. Judy was an active member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Billings and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Laurel.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by Steve Henry, her husband of 52 years, daughters Heidi (Phillip) Hargarten, Heather (Sok Khann) Henry, granddaughter Juniper Henry, and sisters Ilene (Denis) Bourdeau and Betty (Tom) Baker.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements by Smith Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday, December 4th, 11:00 am, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Laurel. The family asks that memorials be made to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Laurel or a charity of your choice.</p>
