Robert "Rob" Dean Loder

Robert “Rob” Dean Loder, 61, of rural Newton died on Monday, November 27, 2023.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Memorials in Rob’s name (checks made payable to Sherry Loder) may be left at the funeral home.

Rob, the son of Rudolph and Rozella (Mahan) Loder, was born on April 21, 1962 in Spencer. He grew up in the Ruthven and Ayrshire area. On April 28, 1984, Rob was united in marriage with Sherry O’Clair in Emmetsburg.  In 1986, they moved to Newton where they would make their home.  Rob always had farm related jobs including at the Maytag Dairy Farm and at Cargill plants in central Iowa. He loved horses and had raised both quarter horses and paint horses for over 35 years. Rob always wanted to own Hereford cattle and had acquired a couple head. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and American Paint Horse Association.  Rob loved the outdoors and enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers with friends, and horseback riding.

Rob is survived by his wife, Sherry Loder of rural Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Matthew Dean, in infancy.
