Gary Schraudner Obituary

Gary was born to Herman Martin Schraudner (b.1923 - d.1986) and Opal Annabelle Davids Schraudner (b. 1922 - d. 2000) in Billings, Montana, and soon after taken home to the family ranch in Belmont, Montana. He was raised along with his siblings, David (b.1946 - d. 2009), Coleen, Cindy (b. 1952 -d. 2021), and Don (b.1955 - d. 2023). Gary had a great love for the farming and ranching life. A graduate of Broadview High School in 1973, a class of 7 students. Upon graduation, his parents gave him a plane ticket to Texas. Once in Texas, Gary joined a custom combine crew and followed the crew throughout the midwest until they reached his destination, Broadview, Montana.


During his high school years, he worked at neighboring farms and started in the pipefitter trade soon after and retired after 45 years in the Pipefitters and Plumbers Local #30. During these 45 years, Gary developed many wonderful lifelong friendships.


In his younger years, he bowled in several leagues and enjoyed team roping. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and boating. He loved taking his children and grandchildren boating. His children and grandchildren will always have wonderful memories of their yearly vacation to Fairmont Hotsprings.


Gary enjoyed classic cars. He owned a 1972 Cougar convertible and he loved driving that car.


On March 10, 1990, Gary was united in marriage to Kristi Schaffer. Although this marriage ended after they had spent 22 years together they remained friends. Gary had 3 children whom he dearly loved and is survived by Anna, James, and Kaitlin. Gary was also blessed and is survived by 6 beautiful grandchildren, Ryan, Rowdy, Natalia, Jaylee, Lexie, and Malaya. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of him and a very special nephew, Corbin Schaffer, and his family. Gary is also survived by his older sister Coleen.


Memorial Service will take place at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 11:00 am. Graveside service to follow at 2:30 pm, located at the Lavina Cemetery in Lavina, MT.
