Clifford Gumke

<p>Clifford Gumke, 89, of Jamestown, ND, passed away early Thursday morning, November 30, 2023 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. </p><p>Clifford L. Gumke was born May 26, 1934, in Gackle, ND, the son of Arthur and Violet (Block) Gumke.&nbsp; He grew up on the family farm west of Jud, ND and attended country school in the area.&nbsp; Clifford graduated from Jud High School in 1952 and then helped area farmers.&nbsp; He was united in marriage to Marlene Schuldheisz on October 10, 1954 in Jud.&nbsp; They made their home on a farm in Sharlow Township where he worked the land with John Deere equipment.&nbsp; Cliff was a township supervisor from 1965 to 1996 when he retired and moved into Gackle.&nbsp; He was a member of the Gackle Wildlife club for 50 years, a lifetime member of the Gackle Senior Citizens Center, and the Eagle’s club, Jamestown.&nbsp; Marlene passed away on May 15, 2011.&nbsp; Cliff enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing horseshoes, camping, and especially enjoyed playing cards.&nbsp; Cliff and Irene Eckroth were married on June 1, 2013 in Gackle.&nbsp; They moved to Jamestown in 2018 where their home has been since. </p><p>Clifford is survived by wife, Irene; daughter, Debra (Steve) Tompkins; two sons, Loren (Sandra) Gumke, and Bruce (Linda Dockter) Gumke; six grandchildren, Jill (Jason) Thompson, Sarah (Levi) Gienger, Matthew (Kalsie) Gumke, Joseph Gumke, Laura Gumke, and Jake Gumke; six great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Rudnick; Irene’s children, Terri Eckroth, Todd (Laura) Eckroth, Steve (Kathy) Eckroth, Tammy (Darcy) Dockter, and Sheila (Dallas) Neuberger; 16 step grandchildren; and numerous step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margaret Gumke and Shirley Unverferth, and Linda (Kelly) Olson. </p><p>He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marlene Gumke; parents; brother, Floyd Gumke; great-grandson, Tucker Gumke; sister-in-law, Mavis (Paul) Hample; brothers-in-law, George Unverferth, Bob Rudnick, Duane (Florence) and Darrel “Swede” (Gloria) Schuldheisz; and daughter-in-law, Patty Gumke. </p><p>Funeral Service – 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Lucina Lien officiating.&nbsp; This service will be livestreamed on Clifford’s obituary page at www.eddyfuneralhome.com </p><p>Visitation – 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2023 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown. </p><p>Prayer Service- 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2023 at the funeral home. </p><p>Burial – Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown. </p>
