Judith E. Burgess, 81 years, a resident of Berwick, died Monday, November 27, 2023 at Pinnacle in North Berwick after a brief illness.

Judith was born in Boston, MA on March 3, 1942, a daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Scott) Gardner, Sr. She was a graduate of Randolph High School in Randolph, MA.

Judith met the love of her life, Donald L. Burgess while water skiing at Mousam Lake and they were married in 1962.

She was employed by the Town of Berwick as an Administrative Assistant and worked there for 30 years. She loved to travel, visiting Alaska, Newfoundland and Florida and enjoyed going to the beach and finding treasures there. She loved spending time with friends and family and especially her grandchildren.

Judith was predeceased by her husband, Donald L. Burgess and by a brother, Ralph Gardner, Jr.

Survivors include her sons, Dr. Donald R. Burgess and his wife Mary Lou of Kennebunkport, ME and Michael Burgess and his wife Jennifer of North Berwick, ME; a daughter Wendy Witham and her husband David of Somersworth, NH as well as 5 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10AM to 12PM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Bibber Memorial Chapel - Berwick, 62 Cemetery Road, Berwick. A Memorial Service will follow at noon. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick.
