Larry Edward Towler Obituary

Larry Edward Towler, 80, a native of Connersville, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023 peacefully at home in Sarasota, Florida surrounded by his loving wife and daughter.

One of eleven children of Carl O. and Margaret E. Lyons Towler, Larry was born in Fayette County on February 11, 1943 and was a graduate of Alquina High School with the class of 1963.

Larry served his country in the United States Army as a medic during the Vietnam war.

On July 18, 1964, Larry was married in Central Christian Church to Ruth Evelyn Corya and they lived in the Connersville area until moving to Sarasota, Florida several years ago. Mrs. Towler survives.

For over 30 years, Larry was employed at Ford/Visteon retiring as plant maintenance superintendent. Once Larry retired from Visteon, he worked at APT in Connersville as well as McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford, Ohio. Following retirement, Larry enjoyed working at the various golf courses in Florida.

Along with his family, Larry attended First Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer having accomplished five holes-in-one. Larry also enjoyed going to restaurants and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth Towler; a daughter, Melissa (Ken) Philbert, of Beaufort, South Carolina; two grandsons, Conner and Benjamin King, both of Bardstown, Kentucky; four sisters, Kathy Hill, Teresa (Donnie) Rose and Nancy (Preston) Foster, all of Connersville, and Debbie May of Lakeland, Florida; two brothers, Paul (Diane) Towler, of Connersville and Richard (Kathy) Towler of Lakeland, Florida; four sister-in-law’s, Carolyn (Gary) Bishop of Connersville, Donna Mahaffey of Connersville, Sherry Corya of Richmond, Indiana, Sue Patterson, of Villages, Florida; two brothers-in-laws, Barry (Jean) Alford of Germantown, Ohio, Mike (Donna) Alford of North Port, Florida. Larry is blessed with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Shirley Stant, Birdie Mckenna, and Lois (Jody) Towler; and a brother Rick Towler.

Friends and family may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor John Reynolds at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Dale Cemetery.
