<p>STILLWATER - David A. Pelton of Stillwater passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. David was born at Bellevue Maternity Hospital in Niskayuna, NY on January 6, 1964. He is the son of Ruth E. (Penk) Pelton of Latham and the late David M. Pelton (stepmother Patricia) of Latham.</p><p><br></p><p>David retired from the U.S. Navy in 2004 following a twenty year career. For the past ten years he had been employed by the General Electric Company in Schenectady as a utilities operator. David enjoyed serving his community through involvement with several fraternal and service organizations most notably the Latham Masonic Lodge #75 F&amp;AM where he had been a long-time member. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his mother, David is survived by his sister, Dawn M. (Pelton) Fontenot of Ballston Spa; his uncle, Raymond A. Penk (Veronica) of McAllen, TX; aunt, Joyce Penk of Johnsonville; his niece, Jessica M. Gawlowski-Smith (Steve) of Waterford; grand-nephew, Michael P. Gawlowski-Smith of Waterford; step-sister and step-brother, Lillian E. (Anthony) Bullis of Stillwater and Thomas E. (Kathleen) Woelfersheim of Cabool, MO, as well as several additional nieces, nephews, cousins and his former wife, Lisa M. Pelton of New Jersey. David was preceded in death by his uncle, Edward D. Penk of Johnsonville and his step-sister, Dawn Reynolds of Mechanicville.</p><p><br></p><p>A service, which will be conducted by the Reverend Gordon Drake, will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 6 pm in the Bowen &amp; Parker Brothers Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Rd., Latham, NY. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with David’s family on Thursday, prior to the service; from 3 until 5:45 pm. David will then be cremated and taken to his final resting place in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 2 PM.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of customary remembrances, due to floral restrictions at Saratoga National Cemetery, the family gratefully requests those wishing to remember David in a special way make a donation to their favorite charity in his memory. </p><p><br></p>
