Samuel B. Interrante Sr., 75, of Gloucester husband of Joanne P. (Marino) Interrante passed away peacefully on November 24, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.


He was born in Gloucester, MA on February 5, 1948, son of the late Gaspar and Rose (Fresia) Interrante.


Sam was educated in the Gloucester School System and got drafted into the Army before he could graduate. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.


He loved his family, and they were all very close. In the summer you could find him and Joanne either at Good Harbor or Pavilion Beach enjoying the views and sunshine. He also loved travelling to the Caribbean and wintered in Hawaii. He would always visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Veterans Day. He also attended the veterans group 1st Calvary reunions. He was a big Boston sports fan, especially of the Bruins.


Sam was a member of the St. Peter’s Club, the Elks of Beverly, a life member of 1st Calvary Association and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 74.


He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.


Sam is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joanne P. Interrante; his sons, Sandy Interrante and Michael Interrante; grandchildren, Anthony Interrante and Lilly Rose Interrante; his brother, Gaspar Interrante, and his late wife Sarah; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, his in-laws, close friends, and the west end gang.


He was predeceased by his sisters, Jennie Interrante, Catherine Curcuru, and her late husband Phil; brothers, Charles Interrante and his late wife Phyllis, James Interrante and his late wife Mary, Joseph Interrante, John Interrante and his late wife Betty, Anthony Interrante and his in-laws, Capt. Joseph Marino, and his wife Sophie.


The family would like to thank Northeast Medical Oncology/Hematology practice, Dr. Liebmann and the nurses at Addison Gilbert Hospital, Dr. Pawson, and Care Dimensions, and especially Sybil Darcy for all their wonderful care.


His Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
