Andrew Homola Obituary

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Andrew “Andy” Homola, who was 99 years old. Andrew was born in Bitumen Pennsylvania in 1924. His family returned to Czechoslovakia, the home of their ancestry, as a result of the Great Depression. After World War II, he and some of his family returned and settled in New York. While tending bar and managing the lunchtime crowd, Andrew met his soon to be wife Margie at Schrafft’s restaurant in New York, marrying in 1953. Later, he and his brother, Mike, opened a delicatessen business in Manhattan, which they held for over thirty years. In 1998, he moved to the Jersey Shore with is daughter, Elaine. Andrew was an active member of the Belmar Fishing Club where he was considered the "Superman" of the "Wednesday" Work Crew. In addition, he volunteered his time at the Bradley Beach Food Bank. As a New Yorker he was an avid Yankee and Mets fan, but, loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.


Andrew is predeceased by the love of his life Margaret Homola nee Zager "Margie" in 1995; his brother Mike Homola and his wife Maureen “Sugar”, his sister, Mary and her husband George Skyba, his brother John Homola and sister Helen and husband Joseph Olenac. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Elaine Homola Bradshaw and son-in-law Michael Bradshaw and by his many nieces and nephews, the Homolas, Skyba's and Olenac in addition to his extended Bradshaw family Wayne and Barbara.


Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday November 29, 2023, from 11 am to 2 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736 with a funeral service to begin at 1:15 pm. Interment on 11:30 am on Thursday November 30, 2023, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue Hawthorne, NY 10532.
