Joy Anderson Obituary

Joy Ann (Moore) Anderson, 90 of Baker City, OR passed away peacefully Sunday, November 19, 2023. A Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023~ 1 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, OR.

Joy was born April 13, 1933 in Bremerton Washington to Lester J and Nethella S. Moore. The family moved to Baker City Oregon in 1935, where Joy grew up and attended grades 1 through 12.

Joy married H.D. "Andy” Anderson in 1950 and together they had three children, Jim, Sue and Ann. They later divorced.

Joy trained as a bookkeeper in her dad's Willys Jeep / Volkswagen Dealership in Baker City. She continued her career as a bookkeeper at various automotive dealerships throughout the Pacific Northwest, until her retirement in 1995 in Hood River, Oregon. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Joy enjoyed her retirement, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and traveling with her family and friends as often as she could. While she was an only child, she became the matriarch of her own family – rarely missing a family gathering, wedding, graduation or birthday. She was a prolific sender of greeting cards and letters, always showing love and generosity to her family and friends. She maintained many long-time friendships from her early grade school days in Baker City.

Joy is remembered for being a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend. She loved to garden and maintained perfectly manicured flower beds well into her 80s. She was the keeper of our family memories, always showing up to an event with her disposable camera to make sure she captured the moment.

Joy is survived by her children; Son - Jim Anderson of Kennewick, Washington, Daughters - Sue Lien and Ann (Ron) Spivey both of Baker City, Oregon; nine grandchildren: Amy (Greg) Gorce, Erik (Rachel) Wallace, Brad Harris, Angela (Scott) Martin, Callie (Jon) Calhoun, Andrew Anderson, Dusty (Carrie) Spivey, Lyndsie Spivey Williams, Holly (Blake) Kay and fifteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her granddaughter Christina Ann Wallace. She will be laid to rest next to her granddaughter Christy as was her wish.

For those who would like to make a donation in memory of Joy the family requests they be made to Heart n' Home Hospice or a charity of your choice through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, PO Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834.
