Miguel Gagne Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dad Miguel Joseph Arthur Léon Gagné.

Dad was predeceased by both of his parents, Leon & Edmée (nee Prefontaine) Gagné his sisters Yvette (Bill) Kereluk, Lucille Rivard, his brother Jean-Pierre Gagné and his brother Raymond Gagné. He is survived by his love, Joan Zomora, daughters Candace (Randy) Morrow, Jocelyn (Mike) Kehler and son Trenton (Stacey) Gagné, all his grandchildren, Darius, Liam, Nolan, Easton, Reilly and Lyla and his sister-in-law Anita Gagné and brother in law Rivets Rivard (and numerous nieces and nephews)

Our dad was a man of many interests. The early years memories include dad’s 33rd Psalm acapella group touring around singing in churches all over southern Manitoba, he had a real love for music and later would have us join in for Karaoke nights. We camped every opportunity we could with family and friends mostly in Warren Minnesota, and hotel weekends when we would get to tag along for trade shows.

In later years dad devoted his life to nursing, caring for those who needed him. We remember holidays where patients families would stop by our house with gifts of gratitude for dad because he treated everyone with such care and compassion no matter the situation. And then his agency nursing which brought him full time to Flin Flon and Joan and her entire family! We want to thank the ER Nurses at the Flin Flon hospital who were dads “favourite girls”for their ongoing friendship and care after he no longer could work.

We want to give a heartfelt thank you to Laurel and Alison. You never hope that colleagues and friends would have to become needed for homecare and palliative care but the friendship, care, compassion and the nurse to nurse conversations helped to fulfil dads wish to remain at home throughout this time. Thank you both!

We all know Dad loved the lake life, so we also cannot forget to thank Junior (aka “brother”), Lisa, Dennis, Jenny, and Leanna for giving him exactly what he needed the last number years of his life! We can never thank you enough for being his family while we were so far away.

And finally, we thank Joan’s sister Bonnie who flew out from Newfoundland to be with Joan when we couldn’t be there and became instant family. And a massive thank you to Joan for being such a selfless caregiver through dads battle, and honouring every wish he asked for.  Joan, we are so honoured to have you in our lives.
