Obituary

Our Family is deeply saddened to have to share the news that Andrew John Johnston has passed away unexpectedly on November 15,2023, at the age of 62.

Andy was born on Sept 25, 1962, in Peace River, Alberta and grew up on the family farm 10 miles out of town. He was raised by a very strong widow of great faith, who taught him almost everything he knew, learning and eventually sharing the farm workload as he developed into a truly hard-working man.

Though a farmer at heart, truck driving became his life. Many long days were put in to supporting his family, many sacrifices were made, eventually becoming a business for himself. He proudly operated AJ’s Water Hauling for 21 years, moving his family to Edson along the way.

He poured his heart into everything he did, always there to lend a hand to friends and family. Whether it was panning for gold, or searching for agates, no kid could resist him. You know you’ve found a kind soul when every animal who crosses his path loves him at first sight, and he could never turn down throwing a ball, tugging a rope, or (gently) tormenting a cat, lol!

He is survived by his wife Leona Johnston, his daughters Shannon Roy, (partner Kevin), and April Gold, (husband Chad Schofield, grandchildren Laina Gold, Riley McEachnie, Drew Schofield) and his son Mason Johnston. Additionally, his elder sister Marilyn Simms, (husband Rick Simms, nephew Shaun Simms, niece Heather Simms), and younger brother Mark Johnston, (wife Shannon, nephew Brett), and a handful of wonderful nieces and nephews.

Andy was predeceased by his father Wilbert Johnston, his mother Eva Johnston, his older brother Wayne Johnston and his twin brother Tony Johnston. (Who is survived by the above mentioned nieces Shannon Headrick and Sara Headrick, nephews Travis Johnston and Trevor Johnston)
