Obituary
It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden death of our son, Shawn Alex David Spence on October 29th, 2023, in Terrace, BC. At the age of 38 years.
Shawn was born in Thompson, MB and moved to Vancouver, BC with his cousin, Howard Moose and family in 2002. He lived briefly in Prince Rupert, BC and eventually settled in Terrace, BC.
Shawn attended high school at RD Parker Collegiate and Youth Build at Boys and Girls club in Thompson. He enjoyed singing rap and hip hop with his friends and formed a group with them, called Real Eyez. He was an artist and enjoyed painting, sketching and drawing.
He is survived by his 2 sons: Shayden and Emrick Brown (mother- Alayna Brown), his partner: Diane Ryan. Parents: Darlene and Darren Sayies (stepdad). Sisters: Stacey (Rick), Desiree (Dave), Joanna and brother: Darren Joseph, as well as many uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces and friends.
He is pre-deceased by his father: Maurice Paul Thomas, Aunty: Jacqueline Thomas, Grandparents: Alex Y and Adelaide Spence, Grandmother: Janet Soulier, and other relatives from South Indian Lake.
A Wake will be held at 19 Hickory Ave on Sunday, Nov. 19th, 2023, after 3 PM.
On Monday, Nov. 20th, 2023, A Viewing will begin at 11 AM, with Funeral Service beginning at 1PM at Thompson Pentecostal Church, located at 126 Goldeye Cres. With Pastor Abbey officiating. Feast will follow, in the basement of the Thompson Pentecostal church from 4pm to 6 pm. Shawn will be laid to rest in Thompson Cemetery.
