Norma Lee Fry Obituary

Norma Lee Fry of Lincoln, the daughter of Lee and Gladys (Degenhardt) Templin, was born November 21, 1928 on a farm near Hebron, Nebraska.  She passed away on November 12, 2023 at Yankee Hill Village, Lincoln, NE at the age of 94.

Norma attended Liberty Ridge country grade school and graduated from Hebron High School.

Norma married  Allen C. Fry on August 31, 1947, at the Methodist Church in Hebron, Nebraska.  Together they had 4 children: Teresa (Terri), Jana, Douglas and Candace.

She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and had been active in past years in church committees, Bible School, District Offices of the Methodist Church, and Church Women United, as well as Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Red Hat Chapter, and Bethany Woman's Club.

Norma contributed many hours of volunteer work to various organizations, including St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lions Club and Girl Scouts.

Over the years, Norma lived in Crete, Fairbury, McCook, Beatrice, and then Hastings for 40 years, moving to Lincoln in 2009.  For the past 7 years she called Yankee Hill Village home.

Norma was a seamstress by trade, making draperies, employed by two different businesses.  She sewed all of her daughters' clothes.  In her early years, she embroidered and crocheted; and in later years made stitchery greeting cards and enjoyed a craft club.  In addition to enjoying sewing and doing crafts, Norma enjoyed baking, as well as making scrapbooks for all of her children and grandchildren.  While living in Hastings, she also was a cake decorator for a grocery store.  She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed by all.

Norma is survived by daughters, Terri Rosenthal and husband Leon of Norfolk, NE; Jan Motley of Lincoln, NE; and Candace Miller and husband Jeff of Lincoln, NE; son, Doug Fry and wife Jeri of Ault, CO; brother, Don Templin of Hebron, NE; sister-in-law, Sue Templin of Hebron, NE; grandchildren Nathan Rosenthal and wife Courtney of Lakewood, CO; Anna Chappell of Lincoln, NE; Chris Wacker and wife Bethany Johnson of San Diego, CA; Catherine Eaton and husband Curtis of Adams, NE; Laura Reese and husband Joel of Crosby, TX; Lacy Gangestad and husband Eric of Pierce, CO; Jackson Fry and wife Alexandra of Evans, CO; Tessa Lyon and husband Matt of Santa Rosa, CA; Amanda George and husband Lucas of Lincoln, NE; Zach Miller of Omaha, NE; Great-grandchildren Finley & Ruby Rosenthal, Cecilia Chappell, Layla Fisher, River & Walker Eaton, Elliana, Landen & Elijah Reese, Kaden Gangestad, Sophia & Dahlia Lyon, Quinn George, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Fry; sister and brother-in-law, Roma and Jim Posey, brother Dick Templin, sister-in-law Marilyn Templin, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Margaret Fry, and son-in-law Ron Motley.

Funeral services were Tuesday, 10:30 am, November 21, 2023, at the Methodist Church in Hebron with the Rev. Brian Faust and Pastor Kara Hillhouse officiating. Interment was at the Hubbell Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
