<p>Edward Marion Ritchie Jr.</p><p><br></p><p>“Coach Eddie”</p><p><br></p><p>April 27th, 1971 - November 15th, 2023</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Edward Marion Ritchie Jr., son of Marion and Mary Ritchie, was born April 27th, 1971 in Charleston, SC. He grew up in the Charleston area and attended St. Andrews High School. Upon graduation he entered the Air Force as a Security Force Personnel. He traveled abundantly during his time in active duty and was stationed in places such as Guam, Kuwait, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Germany. After years of dedicated service he became an Air Force reservist where he completed 20 total years of military service. During his time as a reservist he also worked as a supervisor at United Parcel Service until his retirement.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Ritchie was active in the community, always supporting Hanahan athletics including coaching recreation sports for his children for many years. He also actively attended community hunting events and was a member of the Teamsters through UPS. He loved his church family at First Baptist Church of Ravenel where he actively attended.</p><p><br></p><p>He was blessed with 6 children, Tanner, Landen, Payton, Rusty, Edward, and Shelby. He gave everything for them and loved them more than life itself. He often planned trips and different events for them which included NASCAR races, Gamecock football games, and even roadtrips. He always put in an effort to attend all of his children's sports games and even coach them. Mr. Ritchie was a beacon of light throughout a lot of dark times which made an impact on many including close friends and especially his family.</p><p><br></p><p>His amazing and wonderful life full of joy and happiness will extend on in the lives of his peers and 6 children. He is remembered by: Parents: Marion and Mary Ritchie, Children: Shelby Swagel, Edward Ritchie III, Joseph Ritchie, Payton Ritchie, Landen Ritchie, and Tanner Ritchie, Sisters: Debbie Moody (Stephen), Diane Etling (Jack) along with several nieces and nephews including two great nephews. He is also remembered by several aunts and uncles.</p><p><br></p><p>Public Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Ravenel on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM until funeral service begins at 11:00 AM. Funeral Ceremony to be held at First Baptist Church of Ravenel on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Graveside burial to immediately follow at Church cemetery.</p>
