Andrew Lynn Benz, 76, of Connersville passed away November 14, 2023 at Reid Richmond.

One of five children of Frank and Rose Marie Underwood Benz, Andrew was born in Batesville on June 17, 1947 and graduated from Batesville High School with the class of 1965. He graduated from Ball State University with a master’s degree in chemistry, biology, and human anatomy.

On January 24, 1969, Andrew married the former Virginia Butler in St. Rose Catholic Church, Knightstown, Indiana. Mrs. Benz survives.

Andrew was a teacher for Howe Military and Connersville High School for many years.

He was a member of St. Gabriel Church and enjoyed coaching football, girls track, basketball, and wrestling. He was also very active in the community.

Besides his wife of 54 years, Virginia Benz, survivors include a daughter Shanna Maydwell of Fort Wayne; two grandsons, Austin Thomas (Ashley) Robbins of Ohio and Alex Gaskill of Florida; a great-grandson, Eren Robbins; a brother William “Scooter” P. Benz of Batesville; and a sister, Mikiel “Mickie” Hull of Greensburg.

Besides his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Benz and Bobbie Jean Benz.

Funeral services will be conducted by Reverand Matthew Perronie at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 3:30 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the funeral home.
