PAUL EMIL BAUERSFELD, JR. – CHARLESTON, SC

AUGUST 30, 1942 – NOVEMBER 11, 2023

Paul Emil Bauersfeld, Jr., age 81, of Charleston, South Carolina passed away peacefully at Franke at Seaside surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 30, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland to Paul Emil Bauersfeld, Sr. and Anna Alberta Becker Bauersfeld.

Paul graduated from Dundalk High School in 1960 and attended the University of Maryland, graduating with a Bachelor of Science and a master’s degree. Paul retired from the Federal Government in 2006 after serving the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for 42 years as an Administrator and Research Scientist.

Paul had a passion for hunting, fishing and being out on the water. He adored his two granddaughters and cherished the time he got to spend with them. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Lee Bauersfeld; son, Craig William Bauersfeld of Charleston, SC; daughter, Laura Bauersfeld Taylor (Bryan Taylor) of Charleston, SC; sister, Carol Bauersfeld Rowell of Baltimore, MD; and granddaughters, Riley Paige Taylor and Elizabeth Ramsey Taylor, both of Charleston, SC.

A celebration of life service will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church on James Island on Saturday, November 18 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Martin Luther Lutheran Church or CurePSP.
