Delores Mae Matke, age 91 of Stevens Point, passed away on November 12, 2023, at Dimensions Living Memory Care in Stevens Point.

Per her wishes, no public services will be held.

Delores was born on October 12, 1932, in Plover, to the late Frank and Frances (Singer) Shopinski. She attended local grade schools and graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in 1950.

She married George Peter Matke in Stevens Point on May 19, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2002. Delores worked as a nursing assistant at the Portage County Home, retiring in 1994 after 27 years of service. Her interests included playing cards, occasional gambling, cooking and baking, caring for her home and family, watching and feeding birds, and enjoying time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Delores is survived by her three daughters, Linda Matke of Stevens Point, Kathy (Mike) Borchardt of Stevens Point, and Patty (Jim) Austreng of Plover; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; a son, Alan Matke; three brothers, George, Leo, and David Shopinski; and three sisters, Evelyn Fabisiak, Jeannette Smrz, and Betty Scheppa.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Dimensions Living and Interim Healthcare & Hospice for the care they provided for our mother.
