Bobby Wayne Owens, 76, of Berea, died suddenly on Friday Nov. 10, 2023 at St Joseph Hospital in Lexington after a short illness. Bobby was the pastor of Mt. Vernon Church of God in Mt Vernon Kentucky for 43 years, and dedicated his life to serving the Lord, preaching the Word of God, and talking to whomever would listen about Jesus. He was also retired from Dresser Industries after 39 years of work. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, baking, The Andy Griffith Show, Westerns, and spending time with his family.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents William Owens Jr., and Mary Lucille (Wise) Owens, and a younger sister Brenda Lou (Owens) Whitaker. Bobby is survived by his wife of 58 years Ersie Retha (Northern) Owens, his three sons: Anthony Wayne (Sandra) Owens, William David (Tonya) Owens, and Thomas Jeff Owens, his five grandchildren: Lukas, Brian, Eli, Kayla, and Madison, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Friday Nov. 17, 2023 at Lakes Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Harrison and Pastor Stephen Hobbs officiating. Burial will be in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday Nov. 16, 2023 from 6-9 pm at Lakes Funeral Home.
